3. Data Collection

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). LipsumX is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, or any other personal information to use our Service.

3.2 Information We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do not collect:

3.3 Automatically Collected Information

When you use our website or extension, we may automatically collect limited, anonymous usage statistics through our privacy-focused analytics platform. This is detailed in Section 6 (Analytics).

4. Local Data Storage

LipsumX stores certain data locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage APIs. This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties.

4.1 Data Stored Locally

4.2 Clearing Local Data

You can clear your locally stored data at any time through:

  • Extension Settings: Use the "Clear History" button to remove generation history, or "Reset All Settings" to restore defaults
  • Browser Settings: Clear the extension's storage through your browser's extension management page
  • Uninstallation: All local data is automatically deleted when you uninstall the extension

5. Browser Permissions Explained

LipsumX requires certain browser permissions to function. We believe in the principle of minimal permissions and only request what is absolutely necessary for the extension to work.

storage

Why we need it: To save your preferences (theme, language, settings) and generation history locally on your device.

What we do with it: Store your settings in browser local storage. This data never leaves your device.

contextMenus

Why we need it: To add the "LipsumX" option to your right-click menu for quick Lorem Ipsum insertion.

What we do with it: Create menu items that let you generate and insert Lorem Ipsum text directly into text fields.

activeTab

Why we need it: To insert generated text into the active page when you use the context menu or keyboard shortcut.

What we do with it: Only when you explicitly request it, we insert Lorem Ipsum text into the currently focused text field. We do NOT read any content from the page.

clipboardWrite

Why we need it: To copy generated Lorem Ipsum text to your clipboard when you click "Copy."

What we do with it: Write the generated text to your clipboard. We never read from your clipboard.

alarms

Why we need it: To maintain service worker reliability in Manifest V3 extensions.

What we do with it: Send periodic keep-alive signals to ensure the context menu and keyboard shortcuts remain functional.

Host Permissions (Active Tab Only)

Why we need it: To execute content scripts that insert Lorem Ipsum text into text fields.

What we do with it: Only when you explicitly trigger insertion (via context menu or keyboard shortcut), we inject a small script to insert the generated text. We do NOT:

  • Read page content
  • Access your data on websites
  • Track your browsing
  • Modify pages without your action
